Dr. Charlie Nelms is a person of the soil. One of eleven children, he was born and reared on a farm in the Arkansas Delta. With the love and encouragement of his parents, teachers, and members of the small rural church where his family worshipped, Dr. Nelms went on to become a drum major for racial justice and a national leader in higher education. He earned his undergraduate degree in agronomy and chemistry from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and his master’s and doctoral degree in higher education administration from Indiana University.

All faculty and program participants are encouraged to park on the Convention Center lot nearest 8th Street and use Entrance B off 8th Street.

ARE TICKETS REQUIRED FOR ENTRY?
No. Seats are available on a first come/first serve basis.
WILL THE COMMENCEMENT BE LIVESTREAMED?
Yes. The Commencement will be livestreamed on UAPB’s YouTube and Facebook pages.
WHAT ARE THE SCHEDULED TIMES AND DATES FOR GRADUATES TO PICK UP REGALIA (CAP AND GOWN)?
Where: Registrar’s Office/Administration Building - Room 109
When: Tuesday, December 9th and Wednesday, December 10th
Last Name: A - J 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Last Name: K- Z 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
If it is not convenient for you to pick up your regalia that day, the packet will be available in the Registrar’s Office until Thursday, December 11, 2025 (12:00 Noon).
WHAT TIME IS GRADUATION?
The ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. The processional will start at 9:45 a.m.
WHAT TIME WILL THE VENUE OPEN FOR GUESTS?
The venue will open to guests at 7:30 a.m. Doors will close once the processional begins and will not reopen until the graduates are seated in the arena.
WHERE CAN I PARK?
Free parking is available in any unrestricted parking lot on the Pine Bluff Convention Center property.
